About the Council
Bracknell Forest Council is a unitary authority in Berkshire serving more than 110,000 residents and thousands of businesses.
It is governed by 42 elected councillors, with a decision making executive, and employs more than 3,000 staff, including school staff.
Situated in the heart of the Thames valley, the borough is just 19 miles from Heathrow and is at the centre of the M3/ M4 corridor with a direct train service to London Waterloo.
Bracknell town centre has recently undergone a £240m transformation with the creation of The Lexicon - which saw more than 16m visits in its first year and is anchored by a two-storey M&S and three-storey Fenwick department store.
The borough is also home to Coral Reef, one of the South’s biggest leisure attractions, the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst, Wellington College, South Hill Park Arts Centre, and the John Nike Leisure Sport Complex. Legoland and the world famous Ascot Racecourse are both on the borough’s doorstep.
More than 20 per cent of the borough is made up of woodland, including Swinley Forest, with parks and countryside consistently ranked as one of the things residents enjoy the most about living in the area.
It is also home to a number of well-known and high profile businesses including Waitrose, Dell, Honda, 3M and Avis.
